A new cultivate innovation, the grass seed truffle bag, contains sterilized grass seed which is especially good for the production of the truffles from the psilocybe tampanensis and psilocybe mexicana.
Contents of grass seed truffle bag:
- 1 truffle bag which contains approximately 1000 grams of grass seed.
- a mycelium syringe
- an alcohol swab
The truffle bag has an air filter and rubber injection port that seals the bag hermetically after injection with a mycelium syringe.
How to start the grass seed truffle bag:
Clean:
The most important thing to remember is to work real sterile!
Disinfect your hands or wear sterile gloves (not included).
Use the supplied alcohol swab to disinfect the rubber injection port. Do not touch the port afterwards.
Inject:
When using the supplied mycelium syringe always flame the needle before commencing inoculations, but make sure the needle is not hot anymore when you inject the bag (let it cool for about 15 seconds).
Insert the needle through the rubber patch and inject the desired amount of mycelium syringe. If the flow is blocked, slowly pull the needle back a bit.
Prepare:
After inoculation carefully squeeze or shake the bag a little (do not damage the filter).
Then make sure the grass seed truffle bag is not inflated and the filter is free from the back of the bag so the mycelium will be able to breathe.
Store:
Now place the grass seed truffle bag in a clean (preferably dark) location on a room temperature of 20-25°C.
When you only see mycelium grow in only a few spots, you need to squeeze or shake the truffle bag again as this will speed up the colonisation.
This way the inoculation can be completed in 5-20 days.
Ready to harvest:
The mycelium of psilocybe mexicana can produce sclerotia while still in the bag and do not have to be cased.
Once started the bag the scletoria will continue to enlarge until about 4 months when all mycelium is gone it is ready to harvest.
Psilocybe mexicana usually produces one big flush and sometimes a small second flush.
Important: If the truffle bag gets contaminated it cannot be saved. Never open a contaminated truffle bag.
Effect and usages from the psilocybe tampanensis or psilocybe mexicana:
The trip you get from the truffles is very different from mushrooms.
The effect is more spiritual and it taste a little like nuts.
Do not use more than 15-20 grams of fresh truffles the first time.
